Will my subs blow out if the amp output and sub output matches ?

I have 2 kenwood 12s with a RMS of 400 each @ 2ohms and a kenwood amp that put out 500 watts (250 per sub)..I spoke to the people on the website (sonic electronix) and they said I can send back the amp and upgrade it to a better one that will push the subs better..Would getting an amp that matches up to the sub RMS blow them out ? or should I get an amp under the sub RMS ?|||If you set it up properly you can get an amp that either matches or even has slightly more RMS power than your subs. The most important thing to remember when not blowing your subs is to have your system set up correctly. That means configuring the settings on your amp correctly and using a proper enclosure.

The most important setting on your amp is the gain setting. If you set this wrong you can easily damage your subs even if the amps RMS value is under that of the subs RMS value. So use the links below to learn how to do that properly.

The enclosure is important as if you use an enclosure that is not suited for your subs you could possibly damage the subs. As long as you stay close to the manufacturer's recommended specs you will be fine.

There are also other setting such as bass boost that hurt if used in excess. So as long as you don't crank up these settings and have the other things configured correctly you will be fine.

Good Luck!!!
