Would a sealed box be good for a 1000 watt amp ?

I just purchased a kenwood combo deal online at sonic electronix that comes with 2 subs and one amp..I purchased a sealed box yesterday and I was told that if I used a sealed box it'll need more power than a ported box...Should I take the box back and try to exchange it for a ported one ?

P.S. I only listen to Rap and R%26amp;B

You need an amp that will push 800w x1 RMS at 2 OHM and then wire the subs in parallel.

As for the box Sealed is better and more accurate when it comes to sound quality. Subs in a sealed box can take a little more power then ones in a ported box.

Sonic Electronix offers a one year replacment on that setup. Well with the power it pushes now it will last for years.|||well you don't have a 1000 watt amp. you have a 500 watt one. each woofer will get 250 watts with that amp. If you want 1000, then look for an amp that puts out 1000 watts RMS.

next sealed boxes don't require any more power to run subwoofers than ported boxes.

but woofers inside of a sealed box can handle more power than woofers in a ported box.

thats because the air in a sealed box helps to support the woofer, kind of like a damper. a ported box still has some of those qualities, but not below the tuning frequency of the port.

Still a ported box will be louder than a sealed one inside the tuning frequency, even if you do feed the woofers more power in a sealed box. ported boxes increase effeciency and can add 3-9 decibels of sound. to put that into perspective, it would take double the amount of power to get a 3 db increase.

so theoretically, the same subwoofers in that sealed box at 1000 watts will be as loud as they are in a ported box with only 500 watts. In real life application there are several other factors that determine loudness, but I'm just letting you know a few basics.

I prefer ported boxes, tuned low for deeper bass. But there isn't anything wrong with going the sealed route. use it and see how you like it|||i just had two 12 in boss diablos 1000 watts speakers on a boston acustic amp and the speakers were in a bandpass box and it sounded great. make sure you bridge it and set all the settings right. i think (by looking at your specks) that you might have a problem if you dont set the settings right of overheating that amp by pushing it too hard. good luck but that box will be fine.
