Are there any other boat classifications other than R/V and F/V? Like maybe M/V, Military Vessel?

Is there one for cruise ships? And personal boats from Boston whalers to yachts? Are there any other boat classifications other than R/V and F/V? Like maybe M/V, Military Vessel?
Hello!

There are many prefixes used for both merchant and military ships.

M/V= Motor Vessel

S/S= Steam Ship

F/V= Fishing Vessel

S/V= Sailing Vessel

R/V= Research Vessel

Those are some of the more common ones for civilian/merchant vessels. There are many more. Check out the link below for more info! Are there any other boat classifications other than R/V and F/V? Like maybe M/V, Military Vessel?
M/V is actually Motor Vessel, not Military.

Most ship's names include the type of ship, like SS for Steam Ship, M/V (as noted above), etc. Cruise ships tend to use just their names, and may leave out if they are motor (oil/diesel) or steam-powered.

I am not 100% sure how personal vessels (i.e yachts) are listed.
